1. Mudazar Nasser 199 (Pakistan)

In 1984, in the second test match of India's tour of Pakistan, Pakistan opener Mudazar Nasser became the first batsman to be dismissed for 199 runs in the history of test cricket. In the match that started in Faisalabad, after India's huge first innings score of 574 runs, Pakistan entered the field to bat.

Nasser's innings, which was scored with 24 fours in 408 balls, was ended by a catch caught by Syed Kirmani after being bowled by Shival Yadav. This match ended in a draw.


2. Mohammad Azharuddin 199 (India)

Mohammad Azharuddin also suffered this fate during the Sri Lankan team's tour of India in 1986. Azharuddin, the number 5 batsman in India's first innings in the first Test match that started in Kanpur, recorded this excellent innings with 16 fours and one six.

While scoring 199 runs, Azharuddin had to end his innings after being caught by a ball sent by Sri Lanka fast bowler Rumesh Ratnayake. Accordingly, his name was also recorded as the first Indian player to be dismissed for 199 runs in the Test field.

3. Matthew Elliott 199 (Australia)

In 1997, Matthew Elliott faced this unfortunate incident at Headingley Stadium in Leeds during an Ashes Test match between England and Australia. Elliott, who opened Australia's first innings in the fourth Test, scored 26 fours and 3 sixes in his innings off 351 balls.

Matthew Elliott's innings came to an end as Graham Gooch's delivery hit the stumps straight. Australia won the match by an innings and 61 runs. Matthew Elliott's name was mentioned as the first time a batsman was dismissed for 199 runs in the Ashes, which has over a century of history.

4. Sanath Jayasuriya 199 (Sri Lanka)

Sanath Jayasuriya was the first victim of this unfortunate incident as a Sri Lankan batsman. In 1997, he was dismissed for 199 runs in the second Test cricket match of the Indian team's tour of Sri Lanka. 

Sanath, who was the opening batsman of the match which started at the SSC ground, colored this innings with 21 fours and 2 sixes in 221 balls. Sanath's innings saw an unfortunate end as Abe Kuruvila's ball hit the wicket directly and the match also ended in a draw.

5. Steve Waugh 199 (Australia)

Waugh was dismissed for 199 in the third Test match of Australia's tour of the West Indies in 1999. Steve Waugh, who entered the field as Australia's number 5 batsman, spent 376 balls for this innings. It includes 20 fours and one six.

Steve Waugh unfortunately had to end his innings as he was caught at the wrong end of the wicket by Nehemiah Perry. However, after a fierce battle, the West Indies team won this match by one wicket.

6. Andy Flower 199* (Zimbabwe)

Flower scored an unbeaten 199 in the first Test match of the South African team's tour of Zimbabwe. Flower, the number 5 batsman in Zimbabwe's second innings, spent 470 balls and included 24 fours and one six in his innings.

 After the dismissal of Zimbabwe's last batsman Douglas Hondo, Flower had to leave the field with 199 not out. This is the first time in the history of cricket that a batsman scored 199 runs without defeat. Although the South Africans won the match, Andy Flower was named the hero of the match as he scored an excellent 142 runs in the first innings.

7. Younus Khan 199 (Pakistan) 

Younis Khan was dismissed for 199 runs in the first match of the Test series between India and Pakistan which started in 2006. He was the number 3 batsman in the Pakistan innings and played this valuable innings with 26 fours in 336 balls.

Unfortunately, Yunus Khan had to be run out while scoring 199 runs. This was recorded as the first time in the history of cricket that he was run out after scoring 199 runs. The match ended in a draw.

8. Ian Bell 199 (England) 

During the 2008 South African team's tour of England, Ian Bell experienced this at the Lord's Stadium, known as the Golden Temple of Cricket. Bell, who was the number 5 batsman in England's first innings, scored 199 runs in 336 balls with 20 fours and one six.

Ian Bell ended his innings by turning a ball directed by Paul Harris and giving a catch to Paul Harris himself. The match ended in a draw and Bell was awarded as the man of the match.

9. Kumar Sangakkara 199* (Sri Lanka)

Sangakkara became the second player in the world to remain unbeaten on 199 runs as well as the second Sri Lankan to experience this. In 2012, Sanga played this innings in Galle, where the first Test cricket match of Pakistan team's tour of Sri Lanka was held.

Coming in as the No. 3 batsman, his innings included 18 fours and two sixes from 387 balls. Sangakkara, who was unbeaten at the other end, had to leave the field after Nuwan Pradeep was dismissed by Saeed Ajmal at the last wicket. Sri Lanka won the match by 209 runs and Kumar Sangakkara became the man of the match.

10. Steven Smith 199 (Australia)

For the first time since 1999, Steven Smith was dismissed for 199 runs as an Australian batsman. It was in the second Test match of the West African tour. Australia's number 3 batsman Smith made his innings colorful by hitting 21 fours and 2 sixes from 361 balls.

Smith ended his innings on 199 after he was caught in the wrong of a ball sent by Jerome Taylor. Australia won the match by 277 runs and Smith was the man of the match.

11. K. L. Rahul 199 (India)

Indian batsman K. L. In the 5th Test against England in the year 2016, Rahul was unfortunately bowled out for 199 runs. Rahul played this innings as the opening batsman of India's first innings of the match held in Chennai. 

Rahul, who reached 199 runs with 16 fours and 3 sixes in 311 balls, ended his innings by giving a catch to Jos Buttler to a ball directed by Adil Rashid. India also managed to win this match by an innings and 75 runs.

12. Dean Elgar 199 (South Africa)

Dean Elgar, the South African opener, scored 199 runs in Bangladesh's tour of South Africa in 2017. Elgar managed to perform this feat in the first match of the tournament. 

Elgar hit 15 fours and 3 sixes in his innings in 388 balls. Mustafizur Rahman took a catch to Mominul Haque and Elgar was dismissed. South Africa won the match by 333 runs and Elgar was the man of the match.

12. Faf du Plessis 199 (South Africa)

Du Plessis unfortunately limited his innings to 199 runs during the 2020 Sri Lankan team's tour to South Africa. He displayed this skill as the number 4 batsman in the South African first innings.

Du Plessis's innings included 24 fours from 276 balls. Du Plessis ended his innings by giving a catch to Dimuth Karunaratne to a ball sent by Vanindu Hasaranga. Faf was the man of the match as South Africa won the match by an innings by 45 runs.

13. Angelo Mathews 199 (Sri Lanka)

Angelo Mathews is the last batsman to suffer this 199 run curse. Mathews was dismissed in the first innings of the first test match of the Sri Lankan tour of Bangladesh. Being the number 5 batsman, he played this innings off 397 balls with 19 fours and one six.

Mathews was run out after giving a catch to Shakib Al Hasan after a ball sent by Naeem Hasan. Mathews became the 13th batsman and the third Sri Lankan batsman to hit the 199 curse. Mathews became the hero of the match when the match ended in a draw.
